So Dimitri Tishler is a fascinating person.  A Baha'i writer, artist, and composer.  Missing an eye.  (Important?  Poetic?  Irrelevant?)  You should check out his blog and browse around his website.  Why?  Because your interest might be piqued.  And because the arts have the power to penetrate the spirit so much more deeply and directly than simple prose.

Baha'is just concluded a 19-day period of fasting from sunrise to sunset. For me, every year brings a special gift or instructive test. This year my gift has been pure joy. As I was reflecting on why I should receive such a sweet gift, I realized that today is my 15th Baha'i birthday. :-) My Baha'i friends, what has been your gift from the Fast this year?

i lost the melody & the musical feel when i went downstairs to get a pen and got distracted. so it doesn't make sense musically at this point. but this is what i came up with as a start. will need serious re-working.

I've been practicing "What the Fire Is" in preparation for recording the piano and vocal tracks this weekend and for the performance May 30.  It's coming along!  I can't wait to share it with you.  Hopefully we'll get a good recording of it this weekend, and I will be able to post it after its debut at Tiny Planet.
